First of all, i think coffee goes well with about any stick, but especially with something medium bodied (perhaps a natural wrapper) just after breakfast.
Besides that, i'm going to mention these:
1 - Rocky Patel Edge Maduro and Tuaca (top shelf liqueur) in a flute at room temp.
2 - AF Cuban Beli (or Rocky Patel sungrown) and Maker's Mark (top shelf bourbon) on the rocks in whiskey glass.
3 - Oliva O Classic and classic Vodka Martini.
4 - Montecristo Peruvian Especial #2 with rum and coke works too.
Those are a few of my faves. I'd be curious to try a claro or candela stick with a vodka martini as well. The bitter edge on the wrapper might pair well with green olives? Just a thought. I've never smoked any green sticks, but that might be an occassion to make one worth a try!
What are some of your faves? I'd love a few more suggestions, particularly when another of my favorite sticks is in the mix!
Had a Montecristo White Rothschild last night with a glass of Little Penguin Shiraz. Complemented each other nicely.
Maria Guerrero 444 with a bottle of Starbucks Coffee mmmmmmm tasty
Gurkha Masters Select Presidente with a few bottles of Corona worked out great.
I always drink something with a cigar. A combo that just didn't do it for me was an Ashton Heritage Beliscoso with a glass of *bleep*burns Special Reserve Port.
Wow, that is really really funny, check out the last line in my last reply. The port name just happens to start with a naughty naughty word and it was censored.
When eating or drinking something with a cigar, I usually find that temperature is important to not confuse or ruin my palate between hits of each different item. I think that foods and drinks that are room temp, to slightly warmer are best. Iced drinks and cold foods like ice cream just don't work for me. I will usually eat small bits of dark chocolate, nuts, toasted bread, mild cheeses.... and as far as a drink, port wine (not the cheap stuff, its gotta be a decent bottle to not ruin a good cigar. otherwise you might as well drink cherry flavored cough syrup), cognac, bourbon. One of my favorite combos is a Romeo y Julieta Vintage Pyramid with a white russian made without ice and dry toast. Toast and a vodka drinks already pair very well, and the coffee flavor in the kahlua and cream taste from the milk match this cigar.
Well I usually am drinking somthing while smoking though I don't pick and choose much it'll either be Coffee, Diet-pepsi, or a Bud light. I have noticed that a Coffee provided it isn't so hot it burns my tongue and ruins both the drink and the smoke seems to bring the flavors out better That's black coffee no sugar or cream. As for the Cigar well I've already mentioned I vary wildly. But notably the coffe and a chocolate Philly seem to go really well together.
So far I've found myself sipping Crown Royal when I smoke, but I imagine anything along those lines would be nice, a good bourbon, scotch (not cheap stuff though) rum, that kind of thing. I hear that Cuban tobacco blenders sip warm tea while smoking. I'd stay away from wine though, most especially red wine. Maybe a really crisp white... I suppose the best thing to do would be to try match the body of your smoke with an appropriately bodied drink.
Well this is my first post, just signed on a couple of days ago. Anyway, My favorite as of today, as I know this will change someday, IS - CAO, MX2 Toro and Makers Mark Bourbon in a short glass with Ice and water. Although I had an MX2 with a few bottles of BlueMoon Beer and it was great with that too.
If you like maduro the MX2 Toro is a must try. I also like Cameroon so I have to try the CX2 also.
Johnny Walker Blue and Puros Indios Viejo (Carlos favorite actually but I liked too)
Starbucks Vanilla Frappaciono and Montecristo (white label preferered)
Kronik Entourage (Fruit Flavored Energy Drink) and Opusx Power Ranger
I personaly don't think that specifics matter much, when it comes to types of cigars with types of liquors. When I drink, its usually wine with dinner. But I will smoke with my congac after. I perfer Remey Martin. When I am looking to accompany a smoke, I like it to be a warm beverage. Something to open the taste buds and sooth the throat. I have enjoyed smoking with coffee and espresso, but I usually go with a warm cup of green tea with honey and a bit of lemon.
I mostly drink Bacardi Select with a little water and ice. Pairs nice with most any thing except the most full bodied smokes. For these a nice Scotch with a cube or two does the trick. Lately I've also tried some Fonseca Bin 27 Porto. It's not expensive and did the trick with an Alec Bradley Trilogy Exotic Maduro (robusto) and a Royal Jamaica Gold (corona). At the cigar shop I usually drink cherry Coke with any of them.
Hello Cigar lover. I am new to this forums/blog or any cigar blogs. Got this connection from another tea forum: Click Text Here by Paul Moriarty. Love paring Cigar with tea, and had wrote many posts regarding to these parings. A Vintage Puerh or High Fired Wuyi Yancha will be great parings with any medium to full cigar. Click Text Here
